If you won the lottery, how would you spend it?
Rachel Lapierre lives in the town of St. Jerome, near Montreal in Canada. In 2013, Rachel won the lottery, with a prize of $1000 a week for life.
Rachel, a former Miss Quebec, has tasted riches and glamour before.
But having won a fortune that most people can only dream of, she’s now giving it all away.
“You know money is money. When you get born, you don’t have anything. And when you go, you’re going with nothing. But you’re going with your memories. You’re going with what you did, here, in life.”
Rachel had previously set up a charity which received an extra boost after she’d won. She has traveled to Haiti, Senegal, and India to help people in need.
“We just try to promote good deeds. So a good deed can be so many things – it can be a bike today, it can be food, it can be transport to go to the hospital. It can be just listening to someone on the phone because they’re so lonely. So it can be so many things.” She says.
Rachel seems to have proved that money can buy you happiness provided you give it away. Then everyone’s a winner.
She believes happiness is from the heart. She said, “I think happiness is coming from the heart. It’s nice to have a new car, a new home, a new everything! It can be really fun, but you don’t need that to be happy.”
She is a giver.
And she does it with simplicity as seen in the video. Inspiring, right? Can you give like she is doing? Rom 12:8 says giving is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Receive the spirit of giving from God today to give.
