“Redemption” in Ephesians 1:7 is the Greek word “apolutrosis” which means riddance. Man was held under a condition permitting redemption; he had to die to pay for his sin. But Christ conferred on him everlasting happiness by plucking him out of trouble with His own blood (Colossians 1:14); He paid with His life. The Lord freed us, the church of God, from trouble by purchasing us back with His own blood. Galatians 3:13 says: “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.” And Acts 20:28 also says it this way, “Take heed….to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”
Read Galatians 4:5, and Colossians 1:20.
Do you know that you (Christian) were not redeemed?
You were recreated, Israel was redeemed. When Jesus died, He paid for their sins; He paid for their broken covenant. But we are recreated.
Yes, everyone in Christ had to be recreated. You were not redeemed, you were recreated. That means you are not the sinner saved by grace. (Christianity does not begin at the cross. It does not begin at the grave. Christianity starts at the resurrection). When you become a Christian, you receive a new life, the resurrection life. You are a new person as though you have never sinned. You are not a forgiven person; you are a recreated person with a new life. That is what the Bible says.
The bible says when He died, we all died – we ended. He went to hell for every one of us. He settled everything, and came back alive with a new life. This is what we are preaching to every man that if you will believe this, if you will believe the life that Jesus has given you, you will discover that the eternal life in your spirit has supplanted the life with which you were born of your mother and father. This is Christianity, not a religion.
There are so many people who think it is one of the world’s best religions. It is eternal life in a human vessel, a divine life at work in a human person. Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever (1 Peter 1:4). And once you are born again, God wants you to live by His Words. Think, talk, and walk His Word.
Understand that Israel was redeemed. When Jesus died, He paid for their sins, He paid for their broken covenant. But Christians are recreated. You are not the sinner saved by grace.
Now you know the difference between the redemptive work of Christ for Jews and new creation life of the Christian. Hallelujah!
